2006 Tasting Notes

The Vintage

The 2006 Vintage was set up with appropriate rain in the growing season then a warm dry period early in the new year. February was a bit cooler which assured the vintage occurred at the usual time in March. There was no rain to interfere with the picking season. The fruit went on to be of very good quality.

Chardonnay

The nose of the 2006 Chardonnay is showing a combination of peach and melon fruits with a hint of citrus. This carries through to the tight minerally well balanced finish. The oak treatment is obvious but subtle ensuing the wine has a soft lingering mouthfeel.

Gamay

The nose of the 2006 Gamay is showing plenty of spicy cherry fruit with a hint of mulberry. The palate is firm with good acidity and finely structured tannins, retaining an excellent fruit component. The finish lingers leaving a delicious berry flavour.
