The Vintage
The 2009 Vintage started out being average until early February where the temperature soared for over a week. Luckily the fruit was barely through veraison so by watering constantly that week, we managed to keep the fruit in tact. After this the temperature returned to normal with cool nights. We then went on to pick at the normal time with good quality fruit.
Sauvignon Blanc/ Semillon
The nose of the 2009 Sauvignon Blanc Semillon shows grapefruit with herbaceous overtones. These flow onto palate adding more complex fruits including lychee and kiwi. The refined acid combines with these and produces a well balanced wine with good length making this a great food wine.
This wine will cellar for at least 10 years.
Chardonnay
This wine shows a lifted bouquet of white peach, nectarine with lime overtones. The fruit follows onto the palate including sensible acid and seamless integration of oak. This wine is extremely well balanced showing texture, minerality and a vibrant structure with a long lingering mouth feel.
This wine will cellar for 10 years plus.
Gamay
The bouquet of the 2009 Gamay shows aromatic fruit of red currant with a hint of cherry. This follows on to the palate to include complex elegant acid with refined tannin. All combined it produces a full middle palate with a lingering savoury finish.
This wine will cellar for 8 years plus.
Cabernet Sauvignon/ Cabernet Franc/ Merlot
The bouquet of the 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Cabernet Franc Merlot shows blackberries with a hint of cassis and cigar box. The medley of dark fruit mixed with refined tannin and exceptional discerning acid creates a delicious mouthfeel and lingering flavours. This wine is youthful and with time will integrate all of these flavours with the generous use of good French oak.
This wine will cellar for 10 years plus.
